THE WET MEETING

Thanks 4 da party a week ago, although we were showered by the rain and probably blown off by the wind we had a really nice time.

DRY, SOPHISICATED LOVE?

There was once a time where I had witnessed a lot of people dating, but then a period later, they all broke up. Funny isn't it? They probably thought they were in love forever but they broke up somehow. In that case, I suggest you to read Ha Jin's books.

I was so inspired by Ha Jin's Waiting and The Bridegroom. The mild relationship between the couples mentioned in his stories displayed the beliefs of traditional Chinese that girls must marry a man with a good reputation, stable income and high social status, but many where unhappy, because it is an arranged marriage where the parents decide.

Furthermore, there are stories about women who seduced people just for the sake of it, and how homosexuality is a crime in China. Imagine living in a censored world where homosexuality is not accepted, and arranged marriages common, it would have been hard for women who wanted to work.

Ha Jin's romance stories were quite unusual. It emphasises the dryness between couples who were married because of arranged marriages or that their physical relationship had grown colder over the years, that even touching each other would hurt.

(Apologies if you just have to swallow this recommendation and lecture of dry, sophisicated love, sorry!!!!)

solitary
Your soul is bound to the Solitary Rose: The
Alone.

"When I wake up alone, the shades are still
drawn on the cold window pane so they cast
their lines on my bed and lines on my
face."

The Solitary Rose is associated with loneliness,
melancholy, and patience. It is governed by
the goddess Merope and its sign is The Sword,
or Unrequited Love.

As a Solitary Rose, you may be summed up as a
hopeless romantic. You desire love and have so
much love to give, but thing just never seem to
work out the way you want them to. In life,
you can be very optomistic, even when things
are gray and nothing works out to your
expectations.

Hopefully, I will not grow up with the 'making of me by gothic literature' and turn out finding my soulmate...
